Hi Peter,
I ran across Lorch when looking for Hommel UWG's.
I would rank the Lorch between brands as Schaublin, Hommel UWG etc.
At Tony Griffith's site Page Title you can find some information.
furthermore I saw some Lorch lathes at Ebay and was stunned how much the sellers wanted for the lathes.

Hello Bertus
The seller came up with a manual at the end
It is a B30 LZS
That one is not listed on lathes.co.uk
I checked Ebay.de but no results

Hi Peter,
I noticed the B27, but wasn't aware that yours is a B30. That makes it even more rare.
On ebay.de I've found a lever operated tailstock for € 199, which is a bargain IMO
Handhebel Reitstock für LORCH B 30 LZS, B30 LZ Drehbank | eBay
I hope I've copied the link, but ain't sure.
maybe a PM-member YOYO ( metalworker) has some ideas

Well if it was here in the states it would be considered an orphan machine and you could by it at an auction for maybe $1500.00 but its not in the states its in Holland and that a much different set of circumstances.Originally Posted by peterveI cant keep them all

I wouldn't know what to offer. You bought it take what you paid for it add what you think you need to make to make it worth your while and that's your asking price.
Am I correct that your the machinery dealer in Holland that post on this board? Do you have any experiences shipping machines to the states? Do you have any idea what it would cost to get that machine packed and shipped to Detroit MI?
Thanks

Hi Peter and Todd,
it is obvious a nice machine of superb quality (when new). Peter stated that it is in pretty good condition. that makes it attractive.
on the downside is that finding parts is near to impossible or requires a lot craftmenship, time and a shop to produce the parts.
the Lorch company went down late '70's or early '80's. IMO i wouldn't pay more than € 2000. Weiler, Schaublin, Cazeneuve, AI Hembrug is a much saver way to go.
shipping to Detroit from Holland is somewhere between € 1500 and € 2000. Packed sea-worthy in a heat treated crate and door to door.
(I shipped three Hommel incl. tons of accessoires to LA early this year)

Todd
Yes I am a machinery dealer in Holland
About shipping
Bertus has a expencive forwarder IMHO
This offer I got a couple of months ago
Lading : 1 pallet - 900 kgs. - 100 x 75 x 200cm
Port of Loading : Rotterdam
Port of Discharge : Detroit
Bijzonderheden :
Totaal bedrag CIF Detroit : Eur. 420,15
Totaal bedrag DDU Detroit : Eur. 991,50
Destination was 20 miles from Detroit centre
So you see that transport from my place (about 50miles from port of rotterdam) to detroit harbor
is cheaper as the 20 or 30 miles from Detroit harbor to final destination
A certified crate will cost you about 200 to 250 Euro
These prices do not include brokerfee and taxes in the US
I have no idea how that turns out
So conclusion :
If you live near a port with a containerterminal and you can pick up the goods yourself
buying over here is a good option
Inspecting the machines is another issue
I shipped to the US on several occasions Also to members of this board
I heard no complains so far
About the prizes mentioned
I am in deep trouble it seems as I payed much more for it

People only go nuts for a watchmaker's Lorch lathe. This size is nothing exciting. That absolutely doesn't mean it is crap!
But for a Weiler of the same size, you would get more.
They are rare, OK. I didn't know these exist. But I don't think that it makes them more valuable.

Are you talking about a Matador or Praktikant old style
Or a new square style
I would be happy with a little less than a square style

I think, you can sell it only by technical specs. And add a bit of Lorch-frosting.
So what RPM (looks like variable)? What pitches? What feeds? Spindle bore (looks small)? Tool room or production lathe? Year of make? Spindle hours?
All up and running and nothing missing? Collets still available?
Lots of questions. Maybe 3000 € or even more, depending on the above.
Pure production or collet-only would be a minus in my eyes.

It has a Camlock with direct 5c spindlenose with a almost complete set of collets 1mm interval
speeds variable up to 3000 RPM IRC
It has a plan bearing And with a 0.01mm indicator no visable play on that bearing
Camlock has a runout in the 0.001 0.003 range
It has a electric brake
Electric clutches to engage feeds
The screwspindel is protected by means of a springsteel cover
Nick
As I will advertise for the German /Swiss market do you have any sugjestions for 'Lorch-frosting'
in some nice German wordings

in some nice German wordings
'Lorch Präzisionsdrehmaschine' should be enough. People know what Lorch is.
Plus the technical facts: Electrical spindle brake, variable speed (of so), RPM, Multifix, ..
